International Conference on Mergers and Acquisitions in the Healthcare Industry 2025: Towards Legal Standards

Vietnam Medical Legal Consulting Company Limited (Medicallaw), under the media sponsorship of Health & Life Newspaper, recently organized the International Conference on Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) in Vietnam’s Healthcare Industry 2025 – HIMA 2025 in Hanoi on November 21.

The event gathered more than 150 domestic and foreign delegates, creating an in-depth forum focusing exclusively on M&A activities in the healthcare industry.

According to experts, in the context of the strong development of the global and regional healthcare market, M&A activities in the healthcare sector are increasingly vibrant to help businesses expand their scale, improve operational efficiency, innovate technology and expand their service network. Vietnam is considered a potential market for M&A deals thanks to the rapidly developing private healthcare system, the increasing demand for high-quality healthcare services, and the increasingly open State policies, encouraging foreign investment in the healthcare sector.

In addition, the trend of globalization and international integration is promoting a strong transformation of the healthcare sector towards personalization, digitalization and data-based. Strengthening international cooperation not only brings valuable resources and experience to healthcare, but also helps Vietnamese healthcare quickly access advanced techniques, improve professional qualifications and approach international standards.

However, the development of M&A activities in the healthcare sector in Vietnam is also facing many challenges in the legal framework. The legal corridor for M&A is not yet complete, administrative procedures are still complicated; regulations on corporate governance and asset valuation in the healthcare sector are not synchronized, causing many difficulties for M&A transactions.

Mr. Nguyen Toan Thang – Deputy Chief of Office of the Ministry of Health spoke at the event.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Toan Thang – Deputy Chief of Office of the Ministry of Health – emphasized that the Vietnamese healthcare industry is facing an opportunity to accelerate in the period of international integration and M&A is becoming a strategic tool to help the healthcare ecosystem develop faster and more sustainably. However, this is also a field that requires transparency, professionalism and legal risk management at the highest level. Only when legal processes, auditing, valuation and operating standards are standardized, will businesses be ready to enter the investment – cooperation – IPO playground.

Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Duc Nhu, Senior Advisor of Medicallaw, provided a lot of useful information for investors at the event.

Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Duc Nhu, Senior Advisor of Medicallaw, who has many years of experience in medical examination and treatment management, said that M&A appraisal in the medical field is more complicated than most other industries because it involves many sensitive factors such as highly specialized personnel, drug and equipment lists, health insurance, fire prevention and fighting systems, environmental standards, and all the specific legal documents of the medical examination and treatment facility… Therefore, having clear and certain legal documents is very important.

Foreign speakers presented reports at the Conference.

At the conference, international experts such as Mr. Brian K. Langenberg from ONEtoONE Corporate Finance, Dr. Gabriel Stein – CEO of Stein Brothers, or Mr. Peter Sørensen – Director of Asia Business Builder – also gave reports analyzing the shift of capital flows into the healthcare sector in Asia and the region. Experts commented that Vietnam has a strong growth rate in demand for medical examination and treatment, a market of 100 million people, a rapidly developing private healthcare system and an increasingly open investment environment. These are factors that make Vietnam an attractive destination for healthcare M&A deals in the next few years.

The International Conference on Mergers and Acquisitions in Healthcare 2025 is held to create an open dialogue forum between management agencies and businesses. The event aims to remove difficulties, improve the legal framework and promote a transparent and favorable investment environment. This is also an opportunity for domestic and foreign businesses, investors and organizations to meet, share information and establish cooperation, contributing to the formation of a community connecting M&A in the healthcare sector.
